Adams has printed and sold stationery on Rye High Street since 1854, and the Foster family has held the company for as long as the modern record reaches — Ian Foster has been a director since before Companies House went digital, with the next generation in the secretary's chair since 2011. The shop still does the full Victorian job description: newspapers at eight, stationery and toys through the day, and a working print department out the back taking orders through the week. Towns this photogenic tend to lose their useful shops first; Rye has kept its printer, which says something about both of them.
