Andrew Rees &Sons Butchers

Andrew Rees opened his own butcher's shop on Narberth High Street on 3 October 1988, aged 23, having served his apprenticeship under Gordon Hughes Butchers in Whitland from 1983. The family business grew steadily; a purpose-built catering and wholesale unit was added at West Wales Business Park in 1995 to handle demand from restaurants and outside caterers. The High Street shop sells fresh and cooked meats sourced from named local farms, plus a fish counter stocked with catches landed at Milford Haven. Over the years the business has picked up the Daily Telegraph and Countryside Alliance's Best Rural Retailer in the UK title, bronze and silver True Taste of Wales awards, and was named Best Butcher's Shop in Wales in 2011. Now run day to day by Andrew and his team, the shop still trades from the same High Street premises nearly four decades after opening, alongside the separate catering operation.
