Richard Prentice makes studio pottery from a converted cowshed at Clover Park in Sardis, on the edge of Saundersfoot, having relocated there from his previous High Street gallery in 2024. His output centres on thrown and altered stoneware pieces inspired by the Pembrokeshire coast and its industrial past, including his recurring Sea Globe, Sea Urn and Colliery Pot forms, each hand-built and finished in his own glazes. Prentice has been shortlisted for the ArtEvol prize at the Saatchi Gallery in London and won a Wales award at the ING Discerning Eye exhibition at Mall Galleries. The new studio operates by private appointment rather than passing trade, with visitors invited to see work in progress and discuss commissions directly with the maker. Pieces are sold from the studio and through occasional exhibitions rather than a permanent retail shopfront, keeping production small and centred on one working potter rather than a wider team.
