Black CatDistillery

Black Cat Distillery produces small-batch, hand-crafted gin from a unit within Brougham Hall, a fortified medieval hall near Penrith with origins dating to 1307 and Grade II* listed status. Clare Jeremy set up the distillery with her husband Phil Harrison, opening to visitors at the Hall in 2023 alongside other small tenants. The range includes a London Dry-style spiced gin, a fruity gin flavoured with pink peppercorn and pomegranate, a savoury Mediterranean-inspired gin built around olive botanicals, and a seasonal Christmas edition. Visitors can call in Thursday to Sunday afternoons to see the still at work, take a short tour and sample the gins. The distillery operates from this single site within the historic hall rather than as part of a wider drinks group.
