Buckingham Garden Centre on Tingewick Road is an independent, family-run business that traces back to an alpine nursery started in London by John Brown, whose son Richard moved the operation to Buckingham in the early 1970s. More than fifty years on, Richard and Pauline Brown remain involved alongside their sons David and Peter, who are partners in the business. The centre keeps a specialist plant nursery on site and is known nationally for its mail-order hedging, growing much of what it sells rather than simply bringing in stock. Beyond plants it carries garden tools, furniture, sundries and seasonal ranges, and has a restaurant on site. Recently redeveloped to a higher standard, it remains a single-site operation run by the founding family, with staff chosen for horticultural knowledge rather than general retail experience.
