China Butterfly

China Butterfly is a family-run pottery painting studio and craft shop at 7c Duke Street in Formby, sharing premises with Cafe Kalila. Visitors choose a piece of plain white ceramic from the shelves and paint it at a table in the studio, with staff on hand to help with technique and glazing before pieces go into the kiln. Alongside pottery painting, the studio runs potter's wheel sessions for those wanting to throw their own clay, plus clay imprint and print-on-pottery activities for children. Arty parties are a regular booking for birthdays, with the studio laying on materials and space for a group session rather than a sit-down meal. The attached cafe serves food and drink to painters between sessions, and the studio also takes food delivery orders.
