Tracy Cooper owns and runs the kitchen at Coopers of Helmsley on Bridge Street, cooking modern dishes built on locally sourced ingredients alongside more traditional plates. Before opening here, Tracy spent close to eleven years as owner of the Hambleton Inn and worked in kitchens including the Fairfax Arms and Byland Abbey. The restaurant has been singled out by local reviewers for its sea bass, cooked simply enough to let the fish speak for itself. It is a family-run operation rather than part of a group, with Tracy still working the pass most services. The room is small enough that regulars are recognised, and the menu shifts with what is available locally rather than following a fixed format.
