Grain Brewery was founded in 2006 by Geoff Wright and Phil Halls, who left corporate life to brew in a converted dairy on a three-generation family farm at Alburgh, in the Waveney valley on the Norfolk side of the Suffolk border. It has stayed independent since, brewing from South Farm and running a small handful of its own pubs — including Grain at the Corn Hall in Diss — rather than tying itself to anyone else's. Its Lignum Vitae was named Champion Cask Beer of Norfolk by the county's CAMRA in 2024. A proper rural farm brewery, out where the beer's ingredients grow. Drink it at the source.
