Left Handed Giant brews beer at a site in St Philips and runs a brewpub at Finzels Reach, on Hawkins Lane by Bristol's floating harbour, on ground with over 250 years of brewing history. Rich Poole, Bruce Gray and Jack Granger founded the company in 2014, starting on a 200-litre kit at Small Bar on King Street before building their own brewery. The Finzels Reach brewpub opened on 13 June 2019, funded by 1,500 people through a crowdfunding round, and the business describes itself as founder, employee and community owned. The brewpub serves pizzas from Pizza Is Lovely, runs a top-floor games room with pool and darts, and holds brewery tours on Wednesday evenings and Saturday lunchtimes. Children are welcome until 8pm and the venue operates under a stated LGBTQ+ safe-space policy.
