Macknade began as a farm on the edge of Faversham in 1847 and has stayed in the same family since, now run by Stefano Cuomo as the sixth generation. What was a roadside farm shop from 1979 has grown into a 10,000 sq ft food hall on Selling Road, with a delicatessen, butchery, greengrocery, wine shop and café-kitchen under one roof. The deli counter holds one of the largest ranges of cheese and charcuterie sold anywhere in the country, alongside produce grown on the surrounding farmland. Local trade for the butchery and greengrocery sits alongside the food hall's wider reputation as a destination.
