North Street Kitchen opened as the more casual sibling of Fitzroy — the Fowey venture of the team behind London's Primeur and Westerns Laundry — and outlived it: in February 2024 its head chefs, Ethan and Hazel Friskney-Bryer, bought the restaurant, and it has been theirs since. The recognition kept pace with the handover — the Good Food Guide named it the South West's best local restaurant in 2024, and a Michelin Bib Gourmand has held through the 2025 and 2026 guides. Fitzroy itself sits in hibernation down the hill; this small room is where that cooking lineage carries on.
