Northern Exposure Art occupies a ground-floor unit at Clarence Mill, the former cotton mill on the Macclesfield Canal in Bollington that now houses a mix of small businesses. The gallery is run by gallerist and exhibiting artist Mel Hood, who shows paintings, prints, ceramics and jewellery from a changing roster of British artists alongside her own work. Exhibitions rotate through the year, with new shows introduced every few weeks, and Hood is usually on hand to talk through the artists' backgrounds and techniques with visitors. The space sits beside the mill's café overlooking the canal basin, making it a stop on a wider walk around Clarence Mill's shops and workshops. Framing and commission enquiries are handled directly through the gallery rather than an online-only shop, with prices covering a range from small prints to larger original paintings. The gallery is open six days a week, with shorter hours on Sundays, and welcomes browsers as well as buyers.
