Pearson Hepburn was founded in September 1973 by Pearson Hepburn, trading from Kirkcaldy before settling at its current shop on Valley Gardens. His elder son Scott joined the business in 1982, and younger son Craig followed in 1986, making it a three-generation family butchery now in its sixth decade of continuous trading. The counter sells traditional cuts of Scottish beef, pork, lamb and poultry alongside sausages, black pudding, cooked meats and the shop's own steak pies, prepared on the premises by butchers trained within the family. Customers can order ahead by phone for collection, and the shop supplies platters and joints for local events and gatherings. Trading through decades in which many neighbouring independent shops on Kirkcaldy High Street have closed, Pearson Hepburn has kept its counter staffed largely by Hepburns. It has no dedicated website, relying on its shop frontage and Facebook page for news and ordering. Open Tuesday to Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.
