William Chase built a gin-and-vodka empire at Rosemaund Farm and sold it to Diageo in 2021; Diageo closed the Herefordshire distillery in January 2025 and moved the Chase brand to Scotland — at which point the Chase family bought their farm back. Rosemaund Farm Distillery relaunched in 2025 as an independent family venture — James, Harry, William and Lorna Chase, with Guy Ritchie and the drinks writer Tristan Stephenson holding stakes — around five hundred casks of maturing English whisky the family recovered with the site. The first release, a ten-year-old single malt of 2,700 bottles, sold out by ballot within a day; a second comes in 2026, with distilling resuming and a visitor centre planned. The gin belongs to the multinational now. The farm, pointedly, does not.
