An independent museum founded in 1837 at 52 Alfred Street, with permanent galleries drawn from Orkney's maritime and natural history, plus archaeology, ethnography and social history collections now searchable online. Exhibitions include Sea Stories and Shoogly Holm, and a two-year project is cataloguing and photographing the natural history holdings. Adults £8, students £5, children under 16 free. Monday to Saturday 10.00-17.00, Sunday 11.00-16.00. Assistance dogs only.
