Roger and Magda Davy took over the Beaumont on Beaumont Street in Hexham after relocating their young family from London, Roger returning to the town where he was born. The Victorian townhouse hotel looks out over Hexham Abbey and the Sele park from several of its rooms, with roughly thirty en-suite bedrooms above a restaurant and bar built around an open kitchen. Menus lean on local and seasonal produce rather than a fixed script. Inside, wallpaper from independent designers including Shweta Mistry sits alongside furniture from small suppliers rather than a hotel-chain catalogue. Guests staying for the Abbey or the Tyne Valley walks make up much of the trade, alongside locals dropping in for the bar.
