The Good Bear occupies a corner unit on Hayes Place in Bear Flat, run day to day by host Mauro. The café serves breakfast and lunch six days a week, from granola and eggs through to sandwiches and daily soup, alongside homemade cakes. Milk comes unhomogenised from Tytherington Farm's free-range herd, a choice the café says removes roughly 6,000 plastic bottles from its supply chain each year. Walls double as an informal gallery for local artists and photographers, and the venue runs occasional supper clubs hosted by area chefs. Dogs are welcome throughout service. A small shop counter sells the café's own-blend roasted coffee beans alongside other local produce for takeaway.
