The StreetBakeshop

The Street Bakeshop opened on the main street through Old Basing in August 2020, run by baker Tim Goodwin alongside his wife Susanne. The bakery and coffee shop bakes sourdough, rolls, croissants and cakes each morning, using Matthews Cotswold Flour and cultured butter from The Estate Dairy rather than mass-market suppliers. Customers sit indoors or under the covered outdoor seating, and the shop draws a steady queue from Old Basing and the surrounding villages through the week. Goodwin has twice been named Baker of the Year at the Baking Industry Awards, in 2021 and again in 2023, alongside a Craft Bakery Business of the Year win for the shop itself in 2022. It remains a single, family-run site rather than a wholesale or multi-branch operation, with baking done on the premises daily.
