Linda bought the building on Grassington's square in 2018 and opened the Stripey Badger with her son James — her sister Jacqueline runs the coffee shop and kitchen attached, which makes the staff list a family tree — and then television found the village: Grassington plays Darrowby in the Channel 5 All Creatures Great and Small, the shop appears in shot, and Linda, a superfan before it was professionally required, keeps a memorabilia room for the pilgrims. Under the fandom sits a proper Dales bookshop, open every day of the week in a village of a thousand people, which is the braver statistic.
