The Three Tuns stands on Duke Street in Whitehaven town centre, a two-roomed pub with a pool table and games on one side and rock memorabilia, posters and low lighting on the other. CAMRA records the freehold as owned by an individual rather than a pub company, making it an independent freehouse. It closed during the pandemic and traded briefly under different management in 2023 before reopening in October 2025 under Robin Campbell, who previously ran the Shipwrights Arms on Bransty Row. The reopening weekend included a live set from the Jailbird Junkies. The pub continues to focus on live and recorded rock music rather than a real ale range, drawing a following from Whitehaven's music scene. Doors open from 4pm Monday to Thursday and from noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
