The White Room Gallery at Harlech Pottery was founded in 1971 by Alan and Lynette Gayden, who met after each had run separate pottery workshops in Worcestershire and Yorkshire. Alan trained under Dennis Lacey at Fownhope Pottery in the early 1960s before setting up on his own, and the couple's high-fired stoneware, finished in glazes developed on site, is still thrown and fired at Pentre'r Efail, on the approach to Harlech Castle. Alongside their own pots the gallery shows work from more than twenty other potters, painters and craftspeople connected to the North Wales Potters group, spread across two floors of display space with views toward Snowdon and the Llŷn Peninsula. Pieces range from small animal models to larger vases, jugs and dinner services, with new work added through the season as different makers' kilns are fired.
