Booka Bookshop

Carrie and Tim Morris opened Booka on Church Street in October 2009, building an independent bookshop with an adjoining café selling coffee, teas and home-made cakes alongside new titles, signed copies, cards and gifts. The shop was named UK & Ireland Independent Bookshop of the Year in 2015, having already taken the Midlands & Wales title in 2014 and 2015, and it runs a regular programme of author events and a book club, working with local schools to encourage reading. The Morrises later opened a second branch in Bridgnorth, but the Church Street shop in Oswestry, expanded onto an extra retail floor in 2017, remains the original.
