The Claypit

The Claypit occupies the ground floor of Cambrian Buildings on Coney Green in Oswestry, part of The Factory, a collective of artist and maker studios. Rachel runs the space and teaches beginners through six-week courses in handbuilding and throwing, alongside four-week intermediate throwing courses for those past the basics. One-off sessions include a Saturday Throwdown taster and family clay sessions aimed at children and parents together. Group bookings and team-building sessions are also run from the studio. Rachel is known for patience with first-timers who have never touched a wheel, and the studio keeps class sizes small enough for individual attention. Firing and glazing are handled on site, so finished pieces are collected rather than posted. Clay, tools and aprons are provided for every session.
