Cannon Coffee Roasters occupies a working unit on Clay Lane in Jacob's Well, on Guildford's eastern edge, where the roasting drum sits only a few paces from the counter. The company was incorporated in December 2020 by Chris Foulkes, who had already spent years managing cafés before starting to roast his own beans, and the unit now serves espresso and filter coffee to drink in alongside bags sold to take away. The open sign above the door signals a working space rather than a polished café: sacks of green beans stack against the wall and the smell of roasting carries through the room. Cannon supplies wholesale accounts around Surrey as well as serving walk-in customers, and staff will talk through origin, process and roast date with anyone who asks. Weekend hours run shorter than the working week, from ten until three.
