Carol Foster has been throwing pottery for more than 40 years, since an apprenticeship under potter Les Brown at Tabor Pottery in Canterbury. She moved to Whitstable as a student in the 1970s and stayed on, running the retail shop Seagulls and Flamingos on the high street from 1985 until its lease expired in April 2024. Ceramics workshops continue from her studio at the Joseph Wilson Estate, off Millstrood Road, where she teaches wheel-throwing to potters of all levels, from single taster sessions to longer supported courses. The studio closes every August and keeps a waiting list for places once term resumes in September.
