The Commodore on Bath Street in Aberystwyth has operated as a single-screen cinema since 1976, built on the site of the former Celtic and Conway cinemas. Owner David Davies keeps the 400-seat auditorium running with current Hollywood releases, digital projection and Dolby 7.1 sound, while retaining the character of a traditional town-centre picture house. It holds one of the largest cinema screens in Wales and remains under family ownership, with no second screen added. The cinema offers wheelchair access and car parking, and programmes first-run releases rather than an arthouse schedule, setting it apart from the arts-centre cinemas found elsewhere in the county.
