Cubley Hall is a Victorian house near Penistone that was used as a children's home from the 1940s until 1973 before former lorry drivers John Wigfield and David Slade bought it with their redundancy money in 1980 and converted it into a pub and restaurant. Twelve en-suite bedrooms were added in 1995, and the hall now operates as a hotel, carvery restaurant and function venue set in gardens with a duck pond. It remains independently owned rather than part of a hotel group.
