Fiona Shannon set up her ceramics studio at 7 Mill Road, Portstewart, in 2016, after completing a BA Honours in Contemporary Applied Art at Ulster University in 2014 and the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland's Ceramics Skills and Design course. Working alone from the single-site studio, she throws functional tableware, plates, bowls and jugs glazed in blues and greys drawn from the colours of the coastline near her home. Pieces are sold from the studio and used by several north coast cafés and restaurants that commission tableware to order. Shannon also teaches pottery classes at the studio and at Flowerfield Arts Centre nearby, and has exhibited at the National Craft Gallery in Kilkenny and the International Ceramics Expo in China. The studio is open to visitors by appointment.
