Homelands Guest House occupies a Victorian townhouse at 85 Galgate in Barnard Castle, run by Italian hosts Glenda and Daniele. The five en-suite bedrooms are individually decorated and named after historical figures connected to the area, including Josephine Bowes, Sir Walter Scott and Charles Dickens, and the house can sleep up to eight guests in total. Breakfast is cooked to order each morning, and guests can arrange a home-made Italian dinner in the evening rather than going out to eat. The house has a garden, free WiFi and storage for bicycles, useful for guests walking or cycling in Teesdale. Pets are welcome only in the Charles Dickens room.
