KJ's BothyBakery

Kirsten Gilmour, known locally as KJ, ran the Mountain Cafe in Aviemore for sixteen years before the 2020 lockdown forced its closure. Rather than reopen in Aviemore, she moved operations fourteen miles to her home town of Grantown-on-Spey, opening KJ's Bothy Bakery on the Achnagonalin Industrial Estate that year. The bakery makes real bread and sourdough certified by the Real Bread Campaign, along with sandwiches, cakes and pastries baked from scratch on site each morning, plus a UK-wide bread subscription service. Gilmour has won multiple gold and silver awards at the Scottish Bread Championship, and the bakery was named Small Scottish Retailer of the Year at the 2023 UK Deli & Farmshop Awards. It opens Wednesday to Saturday, 8am to 3pm.
