Plumgarths Farm Shop opened in 2001 at the Lakeland Food Park on Crook Road, just north of Kendal, built around a traditional butchery counter. The Hodgson family, who farm dairy, beef, sheep and salt marsh lamb nearby, have run the shop across four and five generations, with Victoria Hodgson and her daughter Anna managing day-to-day trade. The counter carries salt marsh lamb from the family's own land alongside beef, pork and lamb from neighbouring farms, plus homemade ready meals, meat packs and eggs from Low Foulshaw farm. Jams, chutneys and other goods from local and specialist suppliers fill the shelves, and a loyalty scheme and bulk catering serve regular customers. The shop is a single site, distinct from the food park's neighbouring café.
