The Sebright Arms is an independent pub and live music venue on Coate Street in Bethnal Green, closed for several years before reopening under independent management in October 2011 after Tower Hamlets Council rejected proposals to demolish the building for flats. The pub retains two wood-panelled rooms at street level, with a downstairs venue space that has hosted early London shows by acts including Courtney Barnett, Charli XCX and Squid alongside a regular calendar of local bands, club nights and pub quizzes. Six handpumps serve cask ales from regional and national breweries, and there is a small in-house brewing set-up on the premises. Food runs separately from the bar as a pizza kitchen operating within the venue. The pub operates as a single independent site rather than a managed pub-company outlet, open daily from midday or early evening through to late, with a pool competition on Tuesdays and karaoke on Fridays.
