Sheehy's has traded on William Street in Cookstown for more than a century and is now run by the fifth generation of the same family. The shop combines a bookshop with a traditional newsagent, selling new titles and a stationery range alongside newspapers, magazines, confectionery, cards and gifts. It functions as one of the town's few remaining independent booksellers as well as a daily newsagent, a combination that has kept it a fixture of the high street through changes in both trades. Mid Ulster District Council has featured the shop in its Shop Local series specifically for its longevity and continuous family ownership. The business operates from this single William Street premises only, with an active Facebook page used for day-to-day updates in place of a standalone website.
