Ship Inn

The Ship Inn stands on the waterfront at Fisher Street in Broughty Ferry, first recorded as a spirit dealer serving the town's fisher folk in 1847. Steve Cumming has owned the pub since 2002, running it as a traditional free house rather than a brewery-tied tenancy, with three rotating cask ales typically drawn from Scottish brewers such as Cairngorm and Harviestoun; the business was listed for sale in 2024 as Cumming reached retirement age, though it continues trading under his ownership. A ground-floor bar with fixed leather seating serves lunch and evening bar meals, while the Waterfront Restaurant upstairs seats up to thirty-six diners for fresh local seafood. Outdoor pavement seating looks across the Tay Estuary towards Fife. Dogs are welcome in the bar and outside but not in the restaurant.
