The Cheese Cavern trades from a ground-floor unit inside Lichfield's Corn Exchange, a Grade II listed building on Conduit Street designed by local architects T. Johnson and Son and completed around 1850. Steve and Debbie run the shop together, building their range by visiting dairies, cheesemakers and charcuterie producers directly rather than buying through wholesalers alone. The counter holds a rotating selection of British and continental cheeses alongside cured meats, chutneys and olives, sold whole, cut to order or made up into tasting boards. The pair later added stone-baked pizzas to the shop's offering, cooked to order for customers eating in or taking away. The shop sits among the Corn Exchange's other small units, close to Lichfield Cathedral, and serves both regular local customers and visitors passing through the city centre.
