The Clay Haven occupies two units at Liskeard's redeveloped Cattle Market, founded by ceramicist and community arts practitioner Claire Menear as a not-for-profit community interest company. One unit serves as the working studio, the other as a drying room and kiln space. Sessions range from single Make a Mug or Paint a Pot afternoons to five-week handbuilding and wheel-throwing courses, plus open-access membership for people who already know their way around clay. Claire built the pricing around keeping classes affordable, with a lottery-funded course aimed at people over seventy alongside the general programme. Members get their own shelf space and access to house glazes and communal tools rather than buying everything themselves. The studio frames pottery explicitly as a tool for wellbeing and reducing isolation, not just a craft class.
