Hamish and Rob Lothian reopened the old Coachmakers Arms as the Fat Pig on the 29th of February 2008 — a leap-day founding for a Victorian corner free house that now brews its own beer, distils its own gin, rum and moonshine, and smokes its own meat, all on the premises. Three changing house casks pour at the bar with real cider beside them, the kitchen works around the smokehouse, and a function room sits upstairs. Evening hours midweek, longer at the weekend, closed Monday and Tuesday — a freehouse, as its own sign has it, for the free-thinking.
