The Hare onthe Hill

The Hare on the Hill is a street-corner freehouse on the junction of Thomas Street North and Dove Street in Kingsdown, recognisable by its green-tiled Victorian frontage. Ed Johnson took over the pub's licence in 2021, registered as The Hare on the Hill Ltd, retaining its status as an independent free house rather than tying it to a single brewery. Cask and keg lines rotate beer from Bristol producers including Lost & Grounded, Good Chemistry and Bristol Beer Factory, and a turntable behind the bar plays vinyl records between events. A weekly Monday quiz runs alongside occasional sea shanty singing, folk and jazz nights and an open mic. The pub trades from this single Kingsdown address only, with a small garden to the side used for outdoor drinking.
