The HedgehogBookshop

The Hedgehog Bookshop occupies an 18th-century building on Little Dockray in the centre of Penrith and is run as a family business rather than part of a chain. Stock is split across levels, with a children's and young adult section downstairs and adult fiction, non-fiction, Ordnance Survey maps and local-interest titles on the floor above. The shop also sells greetings cards, wrapping paper and gift items alongside the books, and runs a next-day ordering service for titles not held in stock, delivered at no extra charge. Author events and book signings are held through the year. It sits opposite the Unicorn gift shop on one of Penrith's older shopping streets, within the sandstone townscape that survives from the town's coaching-inn era. The bookshop opens Monday to Saturday all year, with additional Sunday afternoon opening added through the summer months for visitors passing through the town.
