The International is an independent live-music venue on Garden Street, near Leicester's railway station, that has run gigs for around twenty-five years. With a standing capacity of roughly 320, it sits on the mid-size rung of the grassroots touring circuit, hosting a mix of indie and alternative bands alongside a strong line in rock, metal and punk, including its own Darker Days event. The room is set up for touring acts, with a dedicated stage, full PA and dressing rooms rather than a converted back bar. As one of the city's longer-running independent stages, it has hosted many bands on the way up as well as established underground names. It is a single-site, independently operated venue, and remains a fixture of the East Midlands live scene.
