The Staffs Bookshop occupies 4-6 Dam Street in Lichfield, trading in secondhand and out-of-print books under a name inherited from an earlier occupant, the Staffordshire Educational Book Company. Peter Stockham took over the shop in 1988, having previously traded as Images in London's Cecil Court. Stock fills ten rooms across the building, running to around thirty thousand books alongside maps, ephemera and sheet music, with fiction and local history particularly well represented. Customers browse floor-to-ceiling shelving room by room rather than a single open-plan space, and staff know the stock well enough to point browsers towards specific sections or authors. The shop opens Monday to Saturday, from half past nine in the morning until half past five in the afternoon, and remains one of the larger secondhand bookshops in Staffordshire by room count.
