The WaxFactor

The Wax Factor deals in second-hand vinyl, CDs, books and DVDs from a two-floor shop on Tidy Street, off the North Laine. The ground floor holds albums, cassettes, CDs and music books, while the basement is packed with 12-inch and 7-inch singles across rock, soul, funk, jazz, hip hop and electronic music. Stock turns over constantly as customers sell and trade in, so regulars come back for repeat digging. The shop has traded from the same corner of Brighton since the 1980s, with no retail website beyond basic directory listings, relying on passing trade and word of mouth. It opens Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays.
