Walmsleys Butchers has traded from Bridge Street in Ramsbottom since 1946. Jonathan Wallwork, who trained as a chef before spending seven years working alongside previous owner Eric Walmsley, bought the shop outright in March 2000 and has run it since. The counter sells dry-aged Lancashire beef, lamb from the Pennines and non-intensively reared pork, alongside sausages, pies and bakery items made on site each morning. The shop holds more than twenty gold medals from Q Guild and international food awards, and Wallwork now sits as Vice Chairman of the North West Q Guild. Front-of-shop manager June Rostern has worked at the counter for over two decades. The shop closes midweek on Wednesdays and opens a half day on Saturdays, with no Sunday trading.
