Wellington Country Park spans 350 acres of woodland, meadow and lake on the edge of Riseley, opened in 1974 by the eighth Duke and Duchess of Wellington as part of the family's wider estate. Visitors board a tractor-drawn trailer for a safari across open fields to see more than 100 deer across four breeds, red, sika, fallow and axis. Paths wind around a 35-acre lake past an adventure play area, nature trails and a campsite. Café 1815, beside the main reception, serves breakfast, lunch and a booked afternoon tea, alongside ice cream made from milk produced on the estate's own dairy herd. Unlike many country parks, Wellington remains privately owned and run as a single site rather than by a council or trust, with seasonal opening times and last admission generally an hour before closing.
