A Broader Picture has traded on Portstewart's Promenade since 1998, when it opened as a picture-framing and craft shop under Brian and Siobhan Farthing. The business is now run by their daughter, Hannah, and her husband, Steven Mackay, and has grown into a home and lifestyle shop selling furniture, lighting, tableware, garden pieces, jewellery and children's clothing and toys across two adjoining units. The shop retains a framing service alongside its retail stock, a link back to its original trade. Its seafront position places it among Portstewart's row of independent shops and cafes overlooking the Strand, and it draws custom from residents furnishing homes as well as visitors buying gifts. Stock changes with the seasons, with a heavier gift and homeware selection through the run-up to Christmas. The shop is closed on Sundays.
