Kevin Allen began working at the Market Place butcher's shop in 1989 and took it over in 1995, continuing a trade that has occupied the site for at least two hundred years. The counter makes more than twenty sausage recipes in house, alongside Blythburgh free-range pork, Aberdeen Angus beef and lamb bought direct from local farms. A cheese cabinet stocks Suffolk and Norfolk cheeses next to sliced meats, fresh sandwiches, local eggs and bread. The shop opens Monday to Friday from 7am to 3pm and Saturday from 7am to 1pm, with local delivery available. Allen supplies retail customers on the Thoroughfare and surrounding villages that rely on the shop for Sunday joints and barbecue cuts.
