Established in 2006 on Hamilton Place in Stockbridge, Alpha Art Gallery is a single-site contemporary gallery representing emerging and established painters and printmakers from the UK and abroad. Alongside changing exhibitions, the gallery offers picture framing, installation and art consultation services, and stages a dedicated Christmas exhibition each year drawing on its network of artists. The gallery presents itself as a space for buying original work directly rather than an invitation-only or membership venue, with pieces spanning affordable prints to larger collected works. It has operated continuously from the same Hamilton Place premises since opening in 2006, with no branch elsewhere in Edinburgh or beyond. Hamilton Place sits at the centre of Stockbridge's shopping street.
