Edward and Julie Herron opened Ashvale in 2014 as a small farm shop with a sixteen-seat tea room in the Bailliesmills countryside outside Lisburn, since joined in the business by their daughters Emily-Jane and Anna. An orangery added in 2021 doubled the tea room's capacity, and Anna now runs a small ladies' clothing boutique alongside the shop. In 2022 a fire tore through most of the site, closing Ashvale for a year before the family reopened in February 2023 with the shop and tea room rebuilt. The shop sells local agri-food and produce sourced from other small NI producers, and the tea room runs a seasonal breakfast and lunch menu alongside home-baked sweet treats. Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council named it Best Eating Establishment at its 2025 business awards, recognition earned after rebuilding from scratch.
