Bouquiniste is a secondhand and antiquarian bookshop on Market Street in St Andrews, set up in 1982. The narrow shop stocks used paperbacks and children's books alongside rarer stock, with particular depth in Scottish subjects, art and illustrated books, plus a stock of old postcards and prints. Shelves run floor to ceiling in a single narrow room off the town's main shopping street. The business has traded under the same name for over four decades and remains a small, owner-run operation rather than part of any chain. It sits a short walk from the University of St Andrews and the harbour, with stock turning over through regular buying of private collections and estate libraries. Opening hours are reduced in winter (Monday to Saturday 11am-4pm, Sunday 1-4pm) and extended in summer. The shop takes phone and email enquiries for specific titles and holds a card catalogue rather than an online stock list, so browsing in person is the main way to see what is available.
