Brighton Fishing Museum occupies two arches on the seafront's Kings Road, in the area still known as the Fishing Quarter. The arches were built in the 1860s and have been used by Brighton's fishing community ever since; some are still worked from by local fishermen. The museum was founded in 1994 by Andy Durr and is run by the Brighton Seafront Heritage Trust, a charity, with free entry. Displays include historic fishing boats, nets, photographs and equipment documenting the working life of the beach-launched fishing fleet that once operated directly off the shingle. The museum sits within walking distance of Brighton Pier and forms part of a wider stretch of seafront arches given over to the trust's heritage and community projects.
